DAR ES SALAAM, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) — Tanzania’s state-run examinations watchdog on Saturday announced the annulment of examination results for 214 candidates over what it described as cheating.

Charles Msonde, the executive secretary of the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA), said the canceled out examination results were for 83 candidates for Standard Four, 27 candidates for Form Two, 102 candidates for Form Four and two candidates for the qualifying test examinations. The qualifying test examinations are administered to private candidates intending to sit for the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE). He made these remarks when he announced examination results for Standard Four, Form Two and Form Four in the commercial capital Dar es Salaam. Msonde added that NECTA has also withheld the results of 555 candidates who had health problems and failed to do the examinations for all subjects. The relevant candidates have been given the opportunity in 2022 to do examinations for subjects they missed due to illness in accordance with examination regulations, said Msonde.
