ALL is set for the inaugural edition of Nyamatsatse festival of the Healing and the Arts which will kick off on Sunday in the capital.
The Mhondoro Dreams Productions-organised festival will run from this Sunday till August 20.
It will be hosted by various joints in Harare including the Jasen Mphepo Little Theatre in Eastlea.
According to the festival organisers, the event is aimed at bringing together indigenous cultural healing practices and heritage with the arts, from all over the world.
“The festival is based on an old myth, which talks about how a long time ago, the stars came down to earth and gifted human beings with gifts of humanity — arts, culture, language, music, knowledge of the heavens, architecture, medicine,” said the founder of Mhondoro Dreams Productions Klara Wojtkowska.
The festival will be a cocktail of artistic events and these include music, theatre, council of wise people and poetry among others.
“The festival is a space of reconnection, and of singing our humanity back to life, both individually, and as a people, collectively.
“This festival is also a celebration of wisdom and culture and specifically the indigenous traditional cultures of (mainly) Zimbabwe,” said Wojtkowska.
